Getting Ready for Christmas

Believe me, I do get the irony of a Turkish girl living in Israel getting a little too excited about Christmas, but it just is the case. As December is fast approaching, decorations, menus and wardrobe preparations are on the way. Sadly this year, I'll be celebrating the holidays with out my favorite Christmas buddies - who are leaving for a new life in Australia. We'll miss you loads Gil & Dafna.

Giving Thanks {part 2}

I'm {also} thankful for a few creatives, without whom, I'd be completely uninspired and unmotivated to paint:

2. Beatriz Milhazes
3. Richard Diebenkorn
4. Frida Kahlo
and of course the always-lovely Tina Fey.

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's free of religious jibber jabber and all about sitting down with family and enjoying a nice - albeit early - dinner and reminding yourself what you're thankful for.

So here's a few things I'm thankful for lately...

1. Boo & Pixel and our little family.
2. My family and Kyra.
3. Beautiful blue skies and sunsets of Tel Aviv and the beach.
4. Cappuccino and mini brownies at Espresso Bar, our second home.
5. Dirty Martinis, whenever I can get my hands on them.
6. Juicy new oil paint and brand new set of brushes.
7. Colorful balloons marking a celebration at La Chouffe.

Christmas Soundtrack

My favorite time of the year is fast approaching, and of course I'm living in a land oblivious to all the excitement. Still, a dear friend of mine who spent five years in Ireland and I put together elaborate Christmas dinners for the past two years that I've been living in Tel Aviv. This year our soundtrack will include the new She & Him album I've been waiting for the last few months.

Thank you Zooey Deschanel and Matt Ward for making a Turkish/Israeli girl very happy.
